The first glimmer of a dream started in 2009 when I qualified as a Hatha Yoga teacher. I knew then that I would eventually switch my career from IT to teaching yoga and offering other healing modalities. My own yoga practice started in 2001 with Sandra Smith, who is still my teacher and with whom I did my teacher training.
Yoga has been my constant support through the ups and downs of life and it is this that motivated me to teach – to share this ancient and holistic practice.
In 2017, I was searching for something more to compliment my yoga training and I connected with Yasmin Lambat, the creator of SomaSensing. From the start, I was intrigued with this gentle practise that catered even to people suffering with chronic pain. I trained with Yasmin and received my accreditation in 2018. SomaSensingTM introduced me to a more sensory way of moving – allowing me to tune in to the wisdom of my body – and find the quiet within.
It is from this quiet space, that I strive to live, love and teach. In 2018, I was led to Yoga teacher and Ayurvedic practitioner, Helen Altman. With some private consultations, and then enrolling in her online course, I learnt how to take care of myself in a totally different way.
The course included two retreats at the magical Dharmagiri in the Drakensberg where the group found a sacred circle connection. I am deeply grateful to my teachers, and theirs before them, for all that I have learnt and continue to learn. ~ Teresa Rubé (owner of Three Little Birds Healing Centre)
Three Little Birds Healing Centre is located in a quiet neighbourhood where the sound of birds is more common than the sound of traffic. We are developing the garden into a sanctuary where you can linger before or after your class or therapy session, connecting to nature and Mother Earth. We also have plenty of safe off-street parking. In our garden is a beautiful walking labyrinth, designed using sacred geometry. Stepping into a labyrinth and walking mindfully allows you to find quiet and is regarded as a walking meditation. Our labyrinth may be used by those attending classes, workshops or seeing a therapist at the centre. Note: It is not open to the general public.
We have a large spacious studio that lends itself to movement therapy and three therapy rooms used for holistic therapies and healing modalities. We rent these out to like-minded people who work with a holistic approach to healing. See Use our space for more information. Contact Teresa for more information.
